I have also done this on some of my tools at home and have had great luck. Particularly lamps on flexible goose neck mounts. Previously when I was making changes to a machining setup, I would nearly burn my hand on the old incandescent lamp that I was using. The LED version throws a lot of uniform light without the annoying heat. I am now in the process of upgrading all of my task lighting.
