Re: Ontario Kickoff 2013

No take away from the great offer of SWAT, you gals just rock but, I think the Science Centre is still the main place for our kickoff and pick up of the KOP.

FIRST Canadian Quick Build Session

***NEW this year***

Where: Crescent School in Toronto, Bayview & Lawrence

When: 1-8pm, following the kick off

Attendance: 5-8 people

Who: at least one adult team mentor and up to 7 other team members

FIRST Canada in partnership with Crescent School of Toronto is hosting the first ever Quick Build session immediately following the Science Centre Kick Off. Experienced mentors will be available at the session to help your team build the supplied “Kit-Bot.” The goal of the session is to have attending teams assemble, wire, program and test a standard FRC robot drive base. All rookie and second year teams are invited to attend. Teams must register for this session by contacting John Hobbins by Dec. 15 and providing the number attending. An adult team mentor MUST attend with their teams. It is recommended that your group attending the Science Centre (5 people), are likely the ones attending the quick build. Teams may add a few more members to the quick build session. The additional few members may watch the kick off at Crescent with host team 610. The session will be broadcasted live and recorded for those who cannot attend.

Rookie Teams and Second Year Teams

We have great news for you. After the kick off at the Science Centre on Jan 5th, we are asking rookie teams to join us at the Quick Build session. We are providing the First Canadian “Quick Build” session where we hope to assist rookie teams in building, wiring and programming their kit-bot chasses by the end of the day. The session runs from 1-8pm, with a light dinner (pizza) provided. We will have mentors from other teams attending to assist you with the building of the robot kit bot. We believe that this opportunity will benefit rookie and second year teams tremendously.

Remember to secure your spot by contact John Hobbins by Dec. 15.

Veteran and Mentoring Teams

FIRST is asking that you consider helping out with this very good cause that truly embodies Gracious Professionalism – the “Quick Build Session”. Veteran teams are asked to register one or two strong lead students or mentors to help. Although the start of the build session is very hectic, we know believe that our existing will help support these teams. Contact John Hobbins if

you can assign people to assist. Thank You
