The point of this kickoff is not to take away from the Science Centre because that is where every team goes, but to give teams a place to meet after they attend Science Centre and pick up their KOP.
We have hosted this for the past 3 years because kickoff is during winter break and not many public schools open for the team to meet. We also host this event because there is a limit of 5 people to each team at the science centre and this allows the rest of the teams to have a place to watch the live stream together.
Our intention is in no way to take away from the Science Centre kickoff because we all know that it is the main kickoff event, but to help enhance the day for everyone, those who go to the science centre as representatives for their team and those who don't
