This is one of the first few links that you get on Google when you search 31, the only repeating isolated number in the chain of code. This might very well be worth looking into, because it is plausable that the GDC decided to to another NASA themed game, similar to Lunacy, and looking at it from a worldy aspect, NASA recently lost government funding, they could use some promotional events to help them sustain in the upcoming years, unless the world ends today.
This definantly could be a substancial lead in understanding the meaning of this hint.

I think I must be missing something. It appears to me that Mission 31 launched exactly one year ago today, not today. So 366 days between the dates.
EDIT: What if the "HOLDING WEIGHT" line refers to heavy game elements. Last year at championships, they had a guy from NASA speaking about the Curiosity mission. I forget his exact quote, but the way he said it and what he said made me immediately think it was a game hint. This is really out there, but what if the game is based on Mars and heavy Mars rocks (could be the two boxes in the KoP?). There have been '3' games between the last NASA game and now...
