DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) informed Open Robotics University on 12-21-12, that it has been selected to participate in DARPA Robotics Challenge. You may download the simulator to be used to design the robot at:

Since Open Robotics University is an open source university, individuals not enrolled in the university or not members of faculty, can join their team to design software and robot for the competition.
