That seems like good service: the individual issue was acknowledged and corrected promptly, and then the underlying deficiency was addressed and apparently corrected as well.

Actually, it's probably better that you did, all things considered. It gave Paul an opportunity to address the problem promptly and openly, so as to set an example for future interactions with IFI. Assuming that no company can maintain a perfect record forever, the next best thing is for them to have evidence of successfully resolved problems out here on the Internet.
Besides, telling ChiefDelphi about the problem means that dozens of people who have a need to know, now know. If you hadn't spoken up, they would still be ignorant.
