Is there some sort of subconscious hatred of Igus components? I see that Donut has already pointed out Igus as a good option, but I want to second that vote. They make a variety of linear slides (a sample is included in the KOP) and you can get all the parts for free either because they're a sponsor or because you're students (not that the distinction matters too much). Also, their customer service is quite helpful.
