We haven't tried without belts on the bottom, but honestly the polycord doesn't have a lot of friction on the frisbee and I'm doubtful that it will work well. Maybe with a better material for the belts...

Surprisingly, it worked with the lexan touching the ground and with the lexan about 1/4" off the ground! I have a feeling that when the flap was elevated, the frisbee would momentarily bend the flap into the ground as the arm ran into it, which allowed the frisbee to slide over the flap.

The hopper is included in the video; the track will hold 4 frisbees and act as the 'hopper'.
