Subtraction (and division by two) gives you the amount of field width taken up by the feeder stations in the corner, which is one side of a right triangle. Thank you for the answer. I talked to a mentor about this, but we decided to ask on Chief Delphi in the interest of saving time. It seems that I'll just end up calculating it.
