Several teams have done this before, with no issues.

179 in 2005 and 2007
1889 in 2007
234 in 2007

All of these robots performed excellently and drove very well (I think there's three regional wins, a division finalist and a world finalist in that group).

I would caution you to double check everything against the bumper rules. There's nothing inherently wrong about that type of frame, but without the specifics it's hard to say exactly.
