As someone who remembers times before the CIM (and the subsequent period where it was referred to as the Atwood or Chiaphua), I can tell you that thing is a blessing from the heavens. Especially compared to those Bosch drill motors that were the default choice of FRC drivetrains before CIMs (and into the early CIM years, where we could only use 2 of them).

I, too, miss the globe motor. That thing was a horse. I know people are going to laud the PG-71 as its replacement, but I'll trust those the same way when I see them endure the kind of beating those globes endured. They could take a lickin' and keep on tickin'.
