In a more general sense, whenever you are prototyping you want to do the following:
1) what is the performance you are looking for? (i.e. what criteria do you have for "success")
example: the frisbee goes 30 ft horizontal and lands in the same spot every time +/- half a frisbee length (hint: the second example criterion is very important)
2) list all the variables you can think of that should have an effect on your performance goals
example: wheel speed, wheel size, wheel tread, etc...(hint: the list is much longer than this)
3) make a prototype and test its performance vs. your goals
4) change ONE variable, and test again (sometimes it might not be worth the time/effort to only change one, but do your best)
