Solidedge is a mid range software by Unigraphics (EDS)
Solidworks is a mid range software by Catia
FIRST has a sponsored in Autodesk, they make AutoCAD and 3D Max animation software. I don't know what the models in the library are, or if they can be exported/imported into the other software languages.
All of them work fine, just not together. Sharing files can be a pain. Translating isn't clean either. On some of the software, IGES or Step translators work, other times they don't.
It all depends on what you have available.
