Second the aluminum suggestion. We've cut 0.050" and a tiny bit of 0.090" 6061 on a CNC plasma cutter with no issues. The blowout/edge finish is much worse than a waterjet or laser, and it takes a bit more manual cleanup, but definitely usable for FRC.

Are you planning on supporting the end of that shaft (where I assume there is a CIM mounted to a wheel)? It's highly recommended to support both ends of a shaft when possible.
