Something to try is Test.
- Choose Test Mode on the Driver Station Operation tab.
- Enable the robot
- Go to the Test tab on the default Dashboard
Every device opened in your Begin.vi will be displayed.
Look for the joysticks and watch the values as you press the buttons, etc.
That will tell you if the joystick is Opened properly and if it matches the Driver Station Setup tab joystick positions.
