For the most part we CAD everything lightening holes and all, then get center point dimensions from two edges of the part (top and one side usually) and take it out to the our 3-axis mill which has a digital read out. Yeah, and it usually helps to have at least a few people there ready to file the holes on parts while new ones are being made. I think at one point this year there were 10 people crowding around the parts of our base drive-frame filing it.
