Re: 2013 Boilermaker Regional
Congratulations to the winning alliance of 359, 868, and 1747. It was very clear that this alliance would win the whole regional right from the get-go.
Congratulations to 1741 for their Chairman's.
Thank you to 1732 for picking us. It was surreal having you still sitting in the sixth seed as a captain. We honestly thought that the team was easily one of the top four shooters in the whole regional and would be taken early. A personal thank you for trading shirts with me also. We will be cheering for you all at Wisconsin.
Thank you to 3487 for working with us also. I think it was from the very moment that you guys accepted 1732's invitation that all of us knew we had something special going on here. You definitely had potential to go further than quarterfinals.
We would also want to apologize to 1732 and 3487 for an early exit. Our bad luck managed to hit at the worst possible time, with what we thought were bad calls in the second match and jamming up our shooter. Both were dependent on our shooting, and we failed in that aspect. I keep wishing it could have gone the other way instead of what it was.
Speaking of failing, our whole team were literally disheartened at our performance during the whole regional. Many others and ourselves had high expectations for the robot which unfortunately did not deliver amid harsh defense (we were barricaded by an entire alliance once during qualifications), shooter problems (we jammed in 5 different matches), and missed shots (our angle adjuster absolutely refused to work in every single situation). What makes this even more frustrating was the fact that we hit every single shot on the practice field. In addition to all of that, we couldn't lift at all. Our lifter did not cooperate once at all. We even broke the gearbox testing our auto modes early in the morning today. I can't speak for the team, but it was quite simply the most trying day of my time in FRC. I hope we never face this kind of bad luck again, and will work diligently to avoid this as much as possible.
Regardless, I am proud of our team for pushing on through. We will be working very, very hard to get the robot ready in time for Crossroads. This was certainly not the best showing for us, but this isn't the last of us just yet.
