It extends and retracts when it pivots up. It is run by a pneumatic cylinder and is basically a tube within a tube and the inner tube is connected to a cable such that when the outter tube pivots up it raises the inner tube. I.E. telescopes out. So we can be 82" defending a FCS and let it down when we need to return to offense or leave the 84" zone.
