We are always looking to see if there is a better way for us to scout. This is an area I firmly believe in (being an ex basketball coach). We struggle to get what we would like with the numbers of kids we take to a regional.

Thanks,
Norman, I developed the scouting database for Team RUSH and have been evolving it since, and we have using it successfully for the past couple of years. Feel free to PM me with any questions and I can either help you create a database of your own or let you use a simplified version of ours for the current year.

As Mentor548 said, it works best to have a total of 7-8 people scout and enter data manually. Our current system uses iPads with an app built by our students to collect the robot data, export it as a .CSV, transfer it to our scouting laptop, and automatically enter the data correctly. However, the same can be done by entering the data manually using paper scouting sheets.

Thanks for referring to our Toolkit! Our "Students at Competition" chapter does go into the importance of scouting and some high level methodology, but doesn't contain the database.

To improve this just post OPR, CCWM, and Pit Scouting info. It would be more constant with the robot's actual abilities. This would be much more helpful to us, and other teams.
In my experience, solely having OPR/CCWM and Pit scouting does not provide the complete picture that can be gained by watching matches - as long as the data gathered is accurate. Analysis will always only be as good as the data it is based upon.
