Besides for other projects (Eg.,
254's Shockwave), recruiting new members, and demoing in the community/to sponsors, there are tons of offseason unofficial events to attend. I know of at least one near you in Virginia (The Ilite Robotics Offseason Challenge (IROC) at Battlefield High School in Haymarket, Virginia). That takes place in fall, but there are many in the spring/summer as well.
