The main change from the standard AM shifter is that the sprocket placement is now on the outside of the gearbox, which allowed us to change or drive ratio easily if we found our calculations to be incorrect or not ideal. This also allowed for quick one time assembly of the gearbox.
The concept worked very well for us this year as we did find the need to change ratios early on in competition, however we might switch the final ratio to gears.
Another change I know we will definitely do for the future is swap to aluminium gears. we happened to buy 2 full set of steel gears right before vex pro launched there new product line.

We also have used PEM nuts in the past but have found them to be more of a hassle than locknuts.
