Yes absolutely! Corporate websites less so, but web applications is a huge market to get in to. Think about systems like VIMS and TIMS for FIRST, every company has something to manage.
The company I work for has about 10 developer positions open right now. We can't find the right people to fill them. By right people, I mean developers that are willing to talk to customers, learn new things, and care about the quality of their work.
Quality of work is the huge one. I would say a lot of my projects that come in have to have rework because the original developer didn't understand patterns and practices that make maintenance and extension easier. Learn a good object oriented language (my primary language is C#), and learn about SOLID principles and DRY (Don't repeat yourself).
