As long as the switch is not held in the "on" position for too long there is no risk to damaging the battery since it does not put any more of a load on it than does use in a high current demand FRC robot.
I wouldn't recommend using it on a daily basis but at the beginning of the season or before heading to competition is not a bad idea.
