J.R.R. Tolkein said himself that it was not an allegory of WWII! He said that if it were, the ring would have been used against Sauron.
But all in all, they've done a good job. However, they did not fully show the true, raw, amazing power of the Ents. "Their fingers, and their toes, just freeze on to rock; and they tear it up lik bread-crust. It was like watching the work of great tree- roots in a hundred years, all packed into a few moments."
And I did not like the fact that Arwen liked strider, nor did I like the fact that she was there at all and saved Frodo.
And of course the archers.
But everything in both movies was gorgeous. 4 grievances in 2 movies is excellent. I love those movies. I am going to have a LOTR party when all three DVDs are out. We'll serve Lembas.
