Re: 2013 Rah Cha Cha Ruckus!

A huge congratulations to 4039, 1334 and 3951 for their win at Rah Cha Cha!

That alliance put up a score of 198 in one of their matches, and I don't think too many of us could compete with that. Even for our alliance, everything would have had to go perfectly for all 3 robots to come close.

The final alliances matched up in a very interesting way. 4039 vs 610 on cycling + 10 pt climbing. 1334 vs 1511 on the 50pt dump. We felt we had the advantage with 191's cycles offsetting the cycles that 1334 made before climbing. 3951 played very solid defense, as did 1511 prior to their climb and dump.

Speaking from 610's perspective, we needed to match 4039's cycling output every match in order to win. We bet on 191's cycles putting us over the top, even if 1511 couldn't complete the full 50pt dump.

But we couldn't keep up with 4039 in the finals. They outscored us badly in both matches.

I think the win solidified 4039 as one of the best cyclers in the world. They were super quick, accurate and reliable all competition long. I was more surprised they didn't take the #1 seed than others were surprised that we didn't earn it.

I wanted to thank 191 and 1511 for being amazing alliance partners. Sorry our robot didn't quite hold it together for the finals rounds, but we did the best we could, and it was quite the run nonetheless! We learned a lot, and our new drive team made huge strides in practising their new roles.

Overall, the event was excellent! Great venue, setup, volunteers, and competition. What more could you ask for? It should be no surprise why 8 Canadian teams made the trip to Rah Cha Cha even on our Thanksgiving weekend.

Thanks to all who made this event possible!
