RI3D did not use an FRC legal control system last year. Do any of this year's rapid prototyping teams intend to use a cRIO?
Last year RI3D went after the "Low Hanging Fruit" and provided a baseline for teams to reach for. It should be noted that they were racing the clock, not being pushed by other 3 day teams at the time in a compeition-like setting. Here are some major things they didn't do, that some teams with the full 6 weeks managed to accomplish. - Full court shooting
- Floor pick-up
- Climbing to level 2 and/or 3
- Colored disks into the pyramid goal
- Compact designs able to drive under the pyramid
- Camera aided targeting
- Autonomous routines
If this years slate of rapid prototypers had been competing last year do you think we would have seen any additional robot features, or would we have simply seen a wider variety of slot loading wheeled shooters with 10 point hangs? It seems like some of this year's 3 day teams have more resources at their disposal.
