[FTC] Robot Control Configuration

Alright so. We are trying to set the robot's motor for a lift to a button. When trying to control it for time. (Driver doesn't want it set to a analog stick) (Distance didn't work too well because the distance is too short.) It generally listens half of the time. When it doesn't listen it moves constantly. Any solutions
