Rather than tracking the horizontal reflective tape to determine if a goal is hot, could you track the leds around the goal and determine if they are lit or not?

Would this be feasible in NI vision using an axis camera? Would a ringlight be needed in this case?

Not looking to get the distance and do advanced calculations from this tracking system. Simply determining if the goal is hot or not from the status of the led lights around the goals.
