Defending in Autonomous

According to rule G4 robots can start in their goalie zone, presumably to defend against opponent autonomous shots.
Quote:
G4
When placed on the FIELD, each ROBOT must be:

in compliance with all ROBOT rules (i.e. have passed Inspection),
confined to its STARTING CONFIGURATION,
entirely within their GOALIE ZONE, or
entirely within the white ZONE and between the TRUSS and their GOALS, and
fully supported by the floor.
Assuming a lot of robots won't move laterally in autonomous the goalie robot would want to set up directly in front of them to block their shots. This would create a situation were it would be advantages to place your robot as late as possible so it won't be blocked.

Seems to me this would lead to long delays, and funny business as people try to position their robots.
