Does anybody know if it's as simple as removing a gear in a shifting gearbox to accomplish this or is there more that is involved in it. I have never used shifting gearboxes in the past so I don't know how simple it will be to achieve what we want. Also is there one specific gearbox that would be easy to make this change in? One of andymarks? or one of the vex shifters? Any advice on this is much appreciated!
So you want to shift into neutral? Well last year, my team was going to do the same thing. We were going to use our drive motors to power our winch system. You mentioned ratchet. I remember us breaking the head off of a gear wrench to make it work. I would look into that. We modified AndyMark SuperShifters for this. We didn't actually use this feature on the bot, but it was part of design. It would be worth looking into. Good luck!
