Try
Shoe Goo if you can find it. It sticks to everything* and remains flexible.
Try this:
Cut a patch of denim,
Rub Shoe Goo into the patch and on the tear,
Press the patch onto the tear,
Put several layers of newspaper over the patch**,
Put a heavy object on it to hold the pressure, and
Give it 24 full hours to cure.
* I repaired the torn seat of my (heavily used)yard tractor with it. It was split open and the foam as bulging out. That was 2 years ago.
