There are no rules that limit the Number of pistons that you may use. However, please observe the burst pressure when selecting pistons.

Your main and limiting factor to the number pistons is the amount of air that you have to work with and the speed that the compressor will be able to deliver the volume of air needed to do the work you are asking.

If you plan on trying to cycle a 3 inch piston with 12 inch stroke, you will run out of air real quick.
