We're always looking for ways to give back with skills from FIRST. In the past, we've created an elephant feeding system for the Oregon Zoo, as well as repairing a robotic fire hydrant named Robbie for our local fire department.
On a slightly bigger scale, last year we applied for (and received) a Lemelson-MIT InvenTeams grant to work on similar projects. We're working on an 'aquatic Roomba' to combat eutrophication and pond scum in a local lake, as well as creating a tablet app to encourage Guatemalan kids to go to school.
