To consistently win you need to learn how to think. Engineering is about using your resources. Buy/make analysis is a common occurrence in industry. Using prior examples is also a common occurrence.
If you want to build a bridge, you learn the techniques and the math, but you also look at past winning bridges. That's how you build a winning (
I.e. not this) bridge.
Winning does not exclude learning, to requires it.
