Re: Safety Captain purpose?
Usually (at least in MAR) they'll have some sort of informal 'judge interview'-esque discussion with the UL Safety Advisors(green polo shirts) as well as attending a safety captain meeting, usually in regards to specific event safety requirements(both general FIRST ones, as well as sometimes related specifically to the venue).
Other than that, their purpose is to promote the safety culture within FIRST, as well as ensuring safety is followed
