We had a similar problem and solved it by reinstalling the standalone SmartDashboard that we got from
here. When loading up SmartDashboard from the command line, we were seeing an exception being reported that said something about not being able to find the camera extension.
If you do install the standalone SmartDashboard, don't forget to update your FRC DS Data Storage.ini file as described
here so that it opens with your driver station
