The Spike is a mechanical relay, so a click every time it changes state is normal. What colors are the LEDs on the Digital Side Car (DSC) and Spike?
Connect the Spike to a DSC RELAY port with a 3-wire PWM cable. Connect the black wire to the outside of the DSC (closest to the locking tab) and to the letter "B" at the Spike. The LED on the Spike should be amber if the DSC is not connected or is not trying to drive it. When you are commanding the DSC the corresponding LED should illuminate green. The Spike LED should also turn green. For more details, refer to the User Guide is at
