Disclaimer: All this is hearsay, I did not receive it directly.

Assignments are something like "watch this video snip" (made by the teacher on Wednesday) "and complete this assignment", or along the lines of homework but with research first.
Generally new material.
Aligns with current class, just a virtualization of what would have been covered in class that day.

They even have to check in with teachers online, but generally they can structure their day as they wish. A definite start time, some checks to verify engagement, and definite things to get done...just not on a specific timeline.
