The refs are doing the correct thing right now by waiting until the ball will not bounce back. That doesn't mean any of us like it (I certainly don't) but the blame for situations like these should not go to the refs.

The description I'm seeing from some people here on CD is that there is a significant gap (15-30 seconds in some cases) between the ball being scored and the pedestal being lit. Whether the pedestal should light up as the ball passes through the goal or when it is apparent it will not return to play doesn't sound like the issue. It seems, rather, that for some reason there is a significant delay beyond that occasionally. I haven't noticed any instances of it myself, but I have only been keeping one eye on a computer screen when I can during school to see some matches, so I could have missed it.
