Here is an early video of our robot shooting the high goal from 32 feet. It wasn't fully charged and we could probably have squeezed out another 6 feet or so. I keep showing this as our bragging vid.

We were all secretive about our shooter then we found out we couldn't score this way. At that point we made our maximum setting lower than this but still can fire a truss shot from color zone to color zone no problem. We think of ourselves the 'Truss Shot Kings'.
Since accuracy is strained at this distance, this wouldn't have been a commonly used shot but it could have served as a Hail Mary miracle shot in a close match. Even if it didn't score I thought this would really have been a crowd pleaser and make the game more exciting. Even at where we have it set, the crowd got loud when we set it off.
Since there is no end game, in my fantasy matches, in the last 30 seconds such a shot would have been allowed for a whopping 100 points. But if they had done that everyone would have built one of these and more important parts of the game would have suffered. There is so much tension in our springs that getting this to charge, latch and still be safe was not trivial and took a chunk of our build time. Nevertheless our loader loads in 2 seconds and our driver is incredibly intuitive with passing and defense. We are very proud of our team.
