Point of data: Even the cars today with keyless start still have a key capable of unlocking the vehicle, and there's a sweet spot where a nearly-dead remote will still be recognized. In cases where there's no key lock on the door (say, the Cadillac ELR that uses touch pads), there is still a procedure to get a door open and start the vehicle. (
