No need for a System Analyzer, I don't use one for FRC stuff either. Here is a paper I use which documents how to set up an apparatus, or do hand calcs to measure all motor parameters you need for the model.
The techniques I have used in the past to successfully characterize different motors are largely based on the procedures documented here. It's helpful when no spec sheet exists or you want true system performance.
