They usually are using facility power. NPE, The International Plastics Show can only be held in Orlando and I believe Chicago because of the power demands of the show.
Just to give you and idea of the scale of power use for a convention center, here in Orlando at
OCCC on the roof there is a 1 megawatt solar array, this only scratches the surface of the facility power, nothing to do with show power. I had a meeting with some of the facilities guys there once and they started walking me through some of this stuff, pretty impressive and massive.
