Last week, a subset of the G3 Robotics team went to Portland, Oregon to compete at Drone Prize 2014, a competition where teams from various colleges, high schools, and professional organizations, showed how UAVs could be used to do social good. With a project based around using quadcopters for security and maintenance in Atlanta's public transit, MARTA, the G3 team captured second place, and the hearts of the nation, winning the People's Choice Award. The team won a 3D Robotics X8 Quadcopter, which they will use to further their involvement with MARTA and various other community organizations.
