Mind you, that does mean that as long as that there is light showing between the second ball and the robot (or other similar test), it doesn't really matter how close to the partner robot it is. Also note that if it had been against a rule, the Curie refs would have dealt with it promptly by either removing the ball or applying technical fouls.

Here's a video, which shows that two balls are clearly in contact with the robot. I'm quite amazed myself that the Curie refs didn't take care of it.
