As you mention, those are two distinct products, but both are based a certain version of LV. So the compatibility depends on the precise versions.
If you try to load VIs saved in another LV-based product one of several things can happen.
1. The VIs may be from the future, meaning that they were saved in a newer version of LV, may contain newer language or UI elements and it will not attempt to load them.
2. The VIs are from the past or present, meaning that LV will load the VIs and will do its best to locate any libraries that the VIs may reference. It is always OK to cancel out and or ignore the dependent libraries. The VIs will load, they will be broken due to missing libraries, and you can then edit them, close them, or do whatever comes natural. If you are changing platforms or targets, LV may remap some of them, but some may be missing.
3. Occasionally, a project or folder will be a mix of the above two conditions.
