That is correct. The Transport Configuration only applies when the robot is being moved from the pit to another location like the field.

The only size restriction rule that applies during the match is the height restriction. Your robot can grow beyond the transport configuration limits, and it seems that doing so manually once the robot is on the field will be permissible.
