Re: [FTC]: Is there an FTC version of The Blue Alliance?

I tried contacting the Yellow Alliance recently at the email address listed on google+ (theyellowalliance@gmail.com) but got no response. I was told by our local FTC coordinator that FIRST decided not to release FTC tournament data this season, though I don't know why.

If anybody is interested, I am alpha-testing an Android app that allows users to display live FTC tournament data on their device, as long as the FTC Tournament Scoring software has the built-in web server enabled. Our Virginia tournaments have this server enabled. The server should operate on a WIFI SSID/router different from the routers being used to control the robots (e.g., FTC_SCORE or FTC_PIT or something like that).

You should check with your local tournament coordinators to see if the server is enabled, and to get the WIFI SSID and IP address for the server. This information is available under Reports->WebPageInstructions in the FTC Scoring software that is downloadable on the FIRST FTC site. You can download that software and simulate a tournament yourself to test out the software, or give it a try at an upcoming tournament if your coordinators are enabling the server.

The app allows users to see live team info, FTC rankings, match schedules and results, team-specific info (e.g., a list of only the matches a team is in, with results), match specific info (the breakdown of scoring by autonomous, teleop, endgame, and penalties). I'm also about to release a version with live stats, showing win percentage, OPR, DPR, and CCWM. You can also email the full tournament data as a csv for later analysis.

Unfortunately, the app doesn't do much if there's no server to talk to, so you either need to be running the scoring software locally or actually be at a tournament to test it out.

If this goes well and if the FIRST folks decide to release FTC match info next season, I may try to morph this into a Yellow Alliance type thing (or have it interface with the Yellow Alliance if those guys start developing it again). Even if the FTC folks don't release match data in the future, it might be possible to create a database of tournament results compiled by users of the app.

If you're interested in being an alpha-tester of the app, email me at cheer4ftcblog@gmail.com. It's already live in alpha-test mode on Google Play. Unfortunately, there's no IOS version planned at this point.
