WPI has several research robotics labs. I am a member of the DRC lab (DARPA's/Boston Dynamic's Atlas robot). We have several undergrads that are contributing directly to the project. One of the sophomores already has had his work on Atlas published! Check out the website for more detail:

Co-ops and internships are easy to find. The career fair is huge for the size of our school. The CDC is extremely helpful during the whole process, from making a resume to comparing offers from companies.

As for bio-medical engineering, you should check out the Life Sciences and Bioengineering center at Gateway Park. We recently recieved a couple of grants from the NSF for robots in the fight against Ebola.
Thank You so much ! I was bummed that the preview was canceled this weekend and was glad I was notified before we got on the plane . Awesome , I will dive deeper into this now!
