Re: Alamo Regional 2015

Alamo Regional was a great tournament. It was great to see the number of teams who were honored to have been there for all five years of the event. We also missed some of the traditional teams that have attended in the past years.

It was great to meet new teams who came to Alamo for the first time and play with old friends and foes.

Thanks to FRC 1296 for believing in us as their first pick for alliance selections. It was great being alliance partners with Full Metal Jackets and FRC 2415 WiredCats. 1296 was such a great a alliance captain and made stacks on stacks. WiredCats made modifications to their robot for Can Burglaring and provided extras cans every match for our alliance to use.

Congrats to Space Cookies FRC 1868 for their Chairman's Award. It was no doubt they are changing culture in their area. In addition, as Kevin says, congrats to the Iron Plaid Award Winners (FRC 3103 wins Engineering Inspiration Award Winners), for those that do not know Iron Plaid has won this award 4 times in 7 years.

We might also need to rename the Gracious Professionalism to The Bunnies Award as they continue to build their legacy by taking home their 5TH Gracious Professionalism award in 4 years of of existence.

It was also great to see the all girls alliance team of FRC 3103 - Iron Plaid, FRC 2881 - Lady Cans and FRC 1868 in the eliminations. How many times in FIRST history has their been an all girls alliance competing on the field? Their spirit and enthusiasm and not to mention strategy was very exciting to enjoy and witness.

Alamo regional also hosted all four levels of FIRST Robotics Contest under one roof over four days. It was a packed house but great to see all the other contests in the same building.

In closing, Fred Stong was awesome as head referee. Kids loved his attitude and presence he presented before each match. He was consistent throughout the day and communicated to the teams what his expectations were. The referees and volunteers at Alamo providing an atmosphere that was great for the kids and teams.
